Well, if you own a fairly new campervan, it may already come with an alarm fitted and even an immobilizer or possibly a tracking device. These things all could act as a deterrent to the would be campervan thief. However, if you own an older campervan then these sorts of security devices may not already be fitted. Not to worry as you may be able to have one or more fitted to deter someone stealing your campervan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You could attach a steering wheel lock whenever you leave your vehicle unattended whether that is just for a few minutes or a few days. Such a security device is a visible deterrent to a thief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another option is to have the windows on your campervan engraved which again could act as a visible deterrent. It may discourage a thief from even attempting to gain access to your vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You could also have a wheel lock attached to one of the wheels. Again, this is undoubtedly a potential deterrent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When you are not using your campervan in the winter months you could consider leaving it at a secure compound that is protected by security cameras, a high security fence and better still where there is a security guard in attendance at all times. You will need to consider how much this would cost but it is certainly something worth considering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If, like an awful lot of campervan owners, you happen to keep your leisure vehicle at home throughout the year then ideally do not park it in the street outside your home. If you have a drive then why not consider parking it on there as it is less likely to be stolen as it is so close to your home. Make sure that it is lit up at night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Needless to say, do make sure that you have campervan insurance in place. Yes, it is a legal requirement unless the vehicle is kept of the public road system and has been declared SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) that your leisure vehicle is insured but surely you will agree it is a sensible thing to do anyway.
