Campervan owners tend to use their leisure vehicles either for short weekend breaks, weekly or fortnightly holidays in the UK or sometimes travel across the English Channel to one or more European countries. Many of you will probably have visited some of the scenic locations in Scotland including the Isle of Skye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you are considering spending a day or two on the above island then you might like to bear in mind that it is apparently considering introducing a \u201ctourist tax\u201d. An amount of \u00a320 per day is apparently being considered by the local council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the reasons why such a tax is under consideration is because there are a larger number of campervans and motorhomes visiting the delightful island and they are clogging up the island in so much as they are taking up all the car parking spaces and parking in other locations such as farm field gateways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whilst tourism is no doubt, in the main, a good thing for businesses on the Isle of Skye in so much as the likes of shops and cafes receive more income there would appear to be concern from some people on the island about the volume of leisure vehicles coming over from the Scottish mainland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How would you feel about having to pay say \u00a320 for every day spent on the above island? There will be some who would support such a move as they feel the monies will hopefully be put to good use i.e. to help the local community. However, presumably there will be a number of campervan owners who would be against having to pay such a tax especially in the current economic climate here in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So, if you are planning a trip to the Isle of Skye in the coming months, you might like to check the up to date situation concerning the possible introduction of a tourism tax on the above island before embarking on your trip.
