Whilst campervan owners would much rather be enjoying a holiday in their campervans in warm, sunny weather, it is quite possible that some breaks may be made in inclement weather such as rain and winds. Obviously, if the weather is too bad, consideration should be given to postponing a trip away in your leisure vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before setting out in your campervan on holiday you should make sure that it is roadworthy. For instance, is the tread on your tyres well within the legal limit as, if not, it would take you longer to bring your campervan to a stop in wet road conditions. Make sure that the tyres are not damaged in some way and there is no screw lodged in any of them as this could result in you having a puncture on say the motorway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Are your lights all in working order on your campervan. Check every one without fail before setting off and also periodically whilst away on holiday. You may also wish to consider driving with your headlights on even in the daylight as you are more likely to be seen by other vehicles especially in wet, misty weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is important that your brakes are in good working order as it is a well-known fact that it takes a greater distance to come to a halt when the brakes are applied on wet roads as the roads are likely to be slippery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You should make sure that you have enough screen wash and that the windscreen wipers are in good working order so that you are able to wash away the spray from vehicles in front of you thus providing a clear vision both ahead and behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It may seem obvious for us to point this out but consider driving your campervan with the heating on as well as the air conditioning as these things should help demystify the windows making it safer to drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keep your distance from the vehicle in front and reduce your speed in wet road conditions as such weather means that it takes longer to bring your campervan to a halt. You don\u2019t really want to drive into the back of a car or lorry as this could bring your holiday in your campervan to a rapid end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
