You have probably noticed that here in the UK we are witnessing an increasing number of days when the weather is quite a bit hotter than what it was say 15 years ago. There are no doubt a number of reasons why this has been happening but it looks like the high temperatures we have seen a few days ago are going to be coming back in the UK. So, if you own a campervan, what should you consider doing if you are planning to take a break when it is hot?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is obviously very important that your campervan is in good roadworthy order including making sure that your tyres are inflated to the correct pressure. If not, you could be more likely to be involved in a road traffic accident. Check the coolant in the engine \u2013 is it at the required level and if not top it up as you do not want to cause damage to your campervan engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Make sure that you have access to a steady supply of liquid refreshment such as mineral water. If you are able to keep the water cold in the fridge then so much the better. A cold drink of water is very refreshing. Avoid drinking alcohol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Increase the number of stops you make in your campervan. Heat can make some people tired so take a frequent break and enjoy some liquid refreshment as well as something to eat. You cannot afford to fall asleep whilst at the steering wheel of your campervan or you could cause a serious accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Be careful where you park your campervan for the night. Try to park in a sheltered spot such as under a large tree that is in leaf to help protect yourself from the sunlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Don\u2019t drive as fast as normal in your campervan as very hot temperatures can make you drowsy. Better to pull over and catch up on your lost sleep so that when you do wake up you are better able to carry on with your holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Check that the fridge in your campervan is working as it should and keeping food and liquids fresh. Campervan<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you park up for the night on a campsite they may supply electric hook-ups. This could prove invaluable to keep the air-conditioning ticking over on very hot days and humid nights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
