Avoid The Busy Major Roads Over The Easter Holidays

Easter is often the time that campervan owners decide to get away for a few days holiday with their loved one or their immediate family. Unfortunately, a lot of other people in the UK also decide to enjoy some much-needed rest and a change of scenery. As a result, the major roads such as motorways and dual carriageways can get very busy.

The likes of the M5 and A30 and A38 can become gridlocked with holidaymakers heading for the likes of Somerset, Cotswolds, Devon and Cornwall. Holidaymakers going to places in Yorkshire and Northumberland often use the M1 and A1. If you live many miles south of say the Lake District and fancy a few days away in the Lakes then you may decide to use the M6.

However, there is often an alternative route to these wonderful locations that involves using the smaller A roads and the B roads in your campervan. In doing so, it may mean that you are travelling between 30 to 50 mph but at least you are less likely to get stuck in a traffic jam for an hour or two perhaps due to an accident on the motorway.

Another potential benefit of using the smaller roads to get to your Easter holiday destination and back home again is that you will probably end up driving through some delightful villages and small towns that you may decide to linger in and have a good look around. Perhaps you may end up in a village pub for a meal and a drink.

You will also see some delightful countryside that you may otherwise have missed.

Yes, it may take you an hour or two longer to get to your holiday destination but at least you are hopefully going to keep on the move in your campervan.

You may also be able to set your sat nav to avoid the major roads on your journey in your campervan.
